In a significant step towards strengthening security in Uganda, a group of 124 police officers today graduated from a two-month Basic Crime Intelligence Course at the Police Training School in Kabalye, Masindi. The officers came from different police stations and units across the country, including the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU).
The colorful closing ceremony was led by AIGP Moses Kafeero, the Director of Human Resource Development in the Uganda Police Force. In his remarks, AIGP Kafeero thanked the Directorate of Crime Intelligence for organizing such a valuable training. He highlighted the importance of intelligence in modern policing, saying it remains one of the strongest foundations of the Uganda Police Force.
He encouraged the graduates to apply the knowledge and skills they have gained during the course to improve safety and security in their areas of operation. “Let this training help you to think smarter, act faster, and serve better,” he urged the officers.
Also present at the ceremony was SCP Asaba Charles, the Deputy Director of Crime Intelligence, who reminded the trainees about the importance of discipline and professionalism. He stressed that good conduct and integrity must guide all their policing duties if they are to win the trust of the public.
The training aimed to build the officers’ capacity in detecting and preventing crime using intelligence-led methods. With their new skills, the 124 officers are now expected to play a big role in strengthening the fight against crime across Uganda.
This graduation marks yet another achievement in the Uganda Police Force’s ongoing efforts to professionalize and modernize policing for a safer society.
