A total of over 187 drivers were on Monday night arrested and detained in different police stations in Kampala metropolitan area for defying a presidential directive on night curfew.
Police also impounded over 211 vehicles and 331 motorcycles in the same operation.
Patrick Onyango the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson confirmed the arrest of drivers and their vehicles together with motorcycles.
Last night, we carried out an operation to reinvigorate the anti-COVID19 enforcement measures, especially the curfew hours.During the operations, we impounded 211 motor/V & 331 motor cycles.The operation was peaceful& it was carried out in an orderly manner and professionally.

“We arrested over 187 drivers in Kampala metropolitan area alone on Monday night, impounded over 211 vehicles and over 311 motorcycles in the same operation,” says Onyango adding that arrested drivers were detained from different police stations.
Before the operation, Onyango warned all the drivers and motorists on his both personal and police twitter accounts alerting them to follow the presidential directive on curfew time.
