CMI Deploys In Western Uganda As UPDF Robberies Increase

 

The Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) and Police in Western Uganda have launched a serious operation hunting a UPDF officer who has been behind all highway robberies in areas of Ntungamo, Isingiro, Mbarara, Bushenyi, Rukungiri, Kabale among others.

The UPDF officer who is hunted for crimes related to robbery, murder has been identified as Lt Denis Gumusiriza who is attached at mile 48 Detach in Ruborogota Sub-County in Isingiro District.

According to information obtained from CMI, indicate that aggravated robberies in Western Uganda are increasing and the participants are UPDF officers. “After information showed that there is increased robbery in Western Uganda and UPDF officers are involved, CDF Gen David Muhoozi ordered CMI to work hand in hand with Police and have all the suspects arrested and Charged before General Court Martial,” a source from CMI says.

He adds that last week a serious operation was launched in Western Uganda and it started from Isingiro District where a robbery had occurred. The Source says over the weekend a prominent businessman identified as Naboth January who hails from Kigarama cell, Iryango in Kabuyanda town Council was robbed on gun point.

“After the robbery, we conducted a serious operation in areas of Kabuyanda and our crews led us to one Joshua Nyesigire who was among the robbers,” says a source adding that he was later arrested. The source says upon interrogations he was found with a UPDF Sub Machine Gun (SMG) No 56028583.

The source added that as interrogations intensified, Nyesigire revealed how the gun belonged to Denis Gumisiriza a UPDF soldier. “We are now hunting for Lt Gumisiriza and according to our coordinates, he is hiding in areas of Ntungamo and Bushenyi but we shall arrest him,” says another source.

He added that the suspects will be charged in Court Martial based at Second Divison in Mbarara after investigations. Last week we also wrote a story how an Officer belonging to Special Forces Command (SFC) and elite army that Guards President Museveni was wanted for robbing shs 85m.
