Ntungamo Chief Magistrate’s court has today morning released the State Minister for labour and Gender Hon Mwesigwa Rukutana on a cash bail of Shs 4M.
The minister was remanded to Kityala prisons on 7th September on charges of attempted murder, threatening violence, malicious damage and theft of a gun.
His sureties including Hon Jim Muhwezi, business man Bob Kabonero and Igara East Country Mp Michheal Mawanda were bonded at Shs. 50M not cash
Court also ordered Rukutana to deposit his passport but however, he can access it whenever he wants to travel.
Last week, President Museveni condemned the election violence by Rukutana and urged the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) to oppose the Minister’s bail.
Hon Rukutana was arrested with his three bodyguards after shooting at a vehicle belonging to a supporter of his rival Naome Kabasharira injuring one of the occupants, Daniel Rwebirungi during the recently concluded NRM primaries.
