COVID-19: Uganda Registers One New Death as 98 Test Positive

Uganda has registered one (1) COVID19 death today. The deceased is a 27 year old Ugandan male resident of Mengo, Kampala.

This brings the total number of COVID19 death to twenty six (26).

In the same vein, the ministry of health Uganda has confirmed ninety eight (98) new COVID-19 cases from 4,232 samples tested on 25th August, 2020.

Of the confirmed cases,92 are alerts and contacts including 65 from Kampala, 8 from Moroto, 6 from Wakiso, 4 from Mbale, 3 from Gulu, 2 from Adjumani, 1 from Kotido , 1 from Pader and 1 from Tororo.

The other cases include one (1) health worker from Adjumani, two (2) returnees from Saudi Arabia and South Africa, and three (3) truck drivers from Malaba and Mpondwe points of entry.

The ministry further notes that three (3) foreign truck drivers including 2 Kenyans and 1 Tanzanian who tested positive for COVID19 were not permitted entry in to the country.

To date, Uganda registers a cumulative total of 2,524 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 1,268 recoveries and twenty six (26) COVID19 deaths.
