COVID-19: Uganda Registers Two New Deaths as 155 Test positive

Uganda has registered two (2) COVID19 deaths today. The deceased are both Ugandan males aged 58 and 59 from Kapchorwa and Mbale district respectively.

This brings the total number of COVID19 deaths to twenty eight (28).

In the same vein, the ministry of health Uganda has confirmed 155 new COVID-19 cases from 4,513 samples tested on 26th August, 2020.

Of the confirmed cases, 140 are alerts and contacts including 71 from Kampala, 12 from Kikuube, 8 from Jinja, 8 from Wakiso, 6 from Mbarara, 6 from Mukono, 5 from Tororo , 4 from Gulu, 3 from Kitgum, 3 from Pader, 2 from Kisoro, 2 from Buikwe, 2 from Luweero, 1 from Bundibugyo, 1 from Busia, 1 from Isingiro, 1 from kapchorwa, 1 from Kasese, 1 from Kiryandogo, 1 from Kyegegwa and 1 from Mbale.

The other cases include nine (9) health workers including 6 from Kampala, 2 from Wakiso and 1 from Jinja. One returnee from UAE and five (5) from Malaba, Mutukula, Busia and Bwera points of entry.

The ministry further notes that fourteen (14) foreign truck drivers including 13 Kenyans and 1 Rwandese who tested positive for COVID19 were not permitted entry in to the country.

To date, Uganda registers a cumulative total of 2,679 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 1,268 recoveries and twenty eight (28) COVID19 deaths.
