COVID-19: Uganda Registers 3 Deaths, 94 New Cases

Uganda has registered three (3) COVID19 deaths today. This brings the number of total COVID19 deaths to nineteen (19).

According to the ministry, the deceased are all residents of Kampala two (2) of whom are males aged 45 and 31 years and a 57 year old female who passed on while on admission at different private hospitals in Kampala.

“They presented signs and symptoms consistent to COVID19.” Read part of the statement from the Ministry.

Relatedly, the ministry of health Uganda has confirmed ninety four (94) new COVID-19 cases from 3,046 samples tested on 19th August, 2020.

Of the confirmed cases, fifty three (53) are alerts, fifty one (51) of whom are from kampala and two (2) from Buvuma and Wakiso.

The other cases include thirty three (33) contacts, seven (7) truck drivers and one (1) returnee from Kenya.

Regarding the 33 contacts, 21 are from Kampala, six (6) from Namisindwa, three (3) are from Wakiso, two (2) from Adjumani and one (1) from koboko.

Among the seven (7) truck drivers, three (3) arrived via Busia, two (2) via Lia and the other two via Goli and Elegu.

The ministry further notes that a total of fourteen (14) foreign truck drivers including 9 Kenyans, 3 Congolese and 2 Rwandese who tested positive for COVID19 were not permitted entry in to the country.

To date, Uganda registers a cumulative total of 1,750 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 1,194 recoveries and nineteen (19) COVID19 deaths.
