COVID-19: Uganda Registers 3 New Deaths as 64 Test positive

Uganda has registered three COVID19 deaths today bringing the total number of COVID19 death to twenty five (25).

According to the ministry, the deceased are all residents of Kampala two (2) of whom are females aged 70 and 65 years and a 65 year old male.

In the same vein, the ministry of health Uganda has confirmed sixty four (64) new COVID-19 cases from 3,212 samples tested on 24th August, 2020.

Of the confirmed cases,60 are alerts and contacts including 27 from Kampala, 11 from Arua, 7 from Gulu, 3 from Wakiso, 2 from Manafwa, 2 from Adjumani, 2 from Zombo, 1 from Amuru, 1 from Buikwe, 1 from Hoima, 1 from Lamwo, 1 from Lira and 1 from Tororo.

The other cases two (2) health workers from Kampala, one (1) returnee from Saudi Arabia, and one (1) truck drivers from Malaba point of entry.

The ministry further notes that a total of eight (8) foreign truck drivers including 7 Kenyans and 1 Congolese who tested positive for COVID19 were not permitted entry in to the country.

To date, Uganda registers a cumulative total of 2,426 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 1,267 recoveries and twenty five (25) COVID19 deaths.
