COVID-19: Uganda Registers 77 New Cases as Total Shoots up to 2,756

The ministry of health Uganda has confirmed 77 new COVID19 cases from 3,621 samples tested on 27th August, 2020.

Of the 77 confirmed cases, 65 are alerts and contacts including 42 from Kampala, 4 from Amuru, 4 from Kikuube, 4 from Mukono, 3 from Wakiso, 3 from Luweero, 2 from Arua, 1 from Bundibugyo, 1 from Busia and 1 from Jinja.

Others include 9 health workers of which 5 are from Kampala, 2 from Kikuube, 1 from Arua and 1 from Gulu and three (3) truck drivers from Vurra, Malaba and Busia.

According to the ministry, a total of nine (9) foreign truck drivers including 7 Kenyans, 1 Tanzanian and 1 Congolese who tested positive for COVID19 were not allowed in to the country.

To date, Uganda registers a total of 2,756 confirmed COVID19 cases , 1,288 recoveries and twenty eight (28) deaths.
