COVID-19: Uganda Registers Eight New Cases, Total Shoots to 1,203

The ministry of health Uganda has confirmed eight (8) new COVID-19 cases from 1,765 samples tested on 3rd August, 2020.

Of the eight (8) confirmed cases, four (4) are truck drivers, two (2) are alerts, one (1) is a contact from Kyotera district while the other one (1) is a returnee from Somalia.

Among the cases from truck drivers, two (2) arrived via Malaba, one (1) arrived via Busia and the other one (1) arrived via Mirama Hills points of entry.

Regarding the two (2) alerts, one is from Gulu identified from the ongoing rapid assessment survey while one (1) is from Namisindwa district.

According to the ministry, a total of 12 foreign truck drivers who tested positive for COVID19 were not permitted entry in to the country.

To date, Uganda registers a cumulative total of 1,203 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 1,073 recoveries and five (5) COVID19 deaths.
