By Spy Reporter

Hundreds of National Unit Platform (NUP) supporters who had stormed Buganda Road Court expecting to welcome Kawempe North Member of Parliament Hon Muhammad Segirinya aka Mr. Update from Kitalya Prison  where he spent Easter festivities were left in total shock when two NUP Lawyers representing the lawmaker submitted contradicting submissions that made sitting magistrate to reject his bail application.

Segirinya who was following court proceedings via zoom almost collapsed when his two lawyers contradicted before the Magistrate who ended up denying him bail.

According to NUP supporters who were present in court say the lead lawyer Abdul Kiryowa said they were ready for bail application not hearing of the matter.

Lawyer Shamim Malende however said they were ready to hear evidence and their (Lawyers) cross-examination. She added that on several occasions, they tried to access prosecution but failed.

However, the state prosecutor Joan Keko disputed the allegations saying she is always in office by 8:00am and leaves 7:00pm.

The Magistrate blamed defense lawyers for luck of coordination before remanding Segirinya back to Kitalya until April 15.

SEGIRINYA’S ARREST

Segirinya was arrested on March 23rd 2021 at Mini Price in down town of Kampala for illegal demonstration.

The Member of Parliament was protesting the illegal detention, torture and murder of iInnocent Ugandans who support Hon Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine and National Unit Plat Form (NUP).

When Segirinya’s protest attracted thousands of NUP Supporters, transport, businesses and normal traffic flow of vehicles were paralyzed in the city center and the public called police for intervention. It is then that police from the Central Police Satiation (CPS) Kampala rushed and picked him, like a chicken thief.
