FIA Orders Banks to Freeze Accounts of Two NGOs Over Suspected Terrorism Links

Financial intelligence authority FIA has ordered Stanbic bank, Absa, and standard chartered Bank to freeze accounts of two nongovernment organization NGO over their involvement in alleged funding of terrorism links.

The NGO’s in question are Uganda National NGO Forum and Uganda Women’s Network.          (UWONET)

According to a letter seen by spyreports, the NGOs are alleged to be funding terrorism activities in Uganda.

”We hereby bring this matter to your attention for your further management.” said Sydney Asubo  Executive Director of Financial Intelligence Authority.

He added that letters have been provided instructing banks to freeze funds in the respective bank accounts in Stanbic Bank Absa Bank and Standard Chartered Bank as seen in the document below.
