Gunman Rukutana Faces Armed Robbery Charges

The woes of Gun wielding man Mwesigwa Rukutana the State Minister for Labor who also doubles as the Member of Parliament for Rushenyi County in Ntungamo District continue to escalate as he now faces charges of armed robbery.

Rukutana panicked after he was informed that his bail may be cancelled after the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) amended the charge sheet and added armed robbery where he was previously charged with threatening violence.

According to the laws, the case of armed robbery is only tried by high Court meaning that Panicking Rukutana may be remanded and asked to apply for bail in high Court.

Gunman Rukutana was expected to report to Ntungamo Magistrate’s court today for mention of his case.

Allegation has it that Rukutana robbed a smart phone and a laptop belonging to Moses Mwebesa, the owner of a car that was damaged during the National Resistance Movement primaries in Rushenyi Constituency.

In the amended charge, Minister Rukutana is also accused of causing grievous harm to Juma Kahitana.
