Heavy Military Deployment In Kampala City As Bobi Wine Storms EC

Today, there was heavy Military Deployment in Kampala City as Presidential hopeful Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine who also doubles as the President for National Unity Platform stormed the National Electoral Commission petitioning security brutality to his supporters.

Bobi wine on Monday called off his campaign after he accused police and army for killing his supporters in Kayunga intentionally.

According to EC Spokes person Paul Bukenya confirmed the meeting between Bobi Wine and EC officials headed by Justice Simon Byabakama who heads the commission.

Bukenya says the meeting was to take place at 11:00am but will be held behind cameras.

Security sources say they deployed heavily after receiving information that thousands of youth wanted to demonstrate.

“We received some intelligence reports that some people wanted to riot in city putting businesses on stand still,” says a security source.


UPDF armoured vehicles patrolling the city.

The source says some people had also planned to burn tyres in the middle of the city and even wanted to attack security officers who will be on normal duty.

“We heavily deployed military police, SFC officers and other plain clothed intelligence officers in Kampala city to back up,” says another top security chief.

He added that security wanted to see easy flow of traffic and normal business.
