Police in Bushenyi are investigating the circumstances under which a medical student at Buhinga clinical School killed himself by drowning in pound of water. The deceased was identified as Gideon Ndamire 23 years who was attaining his medical course in Fortportal hailed from Bunanura zone Kakanju Parish Bushenyi District.
According to information obtained from Police PRO of Greater Bushenyi SP Tusiime Martial, the deceased left a written document behind before drowning himself in a water pond.
SP Tusiime added that the deceased was identified with the help of a national identity card he left on the bank of the pond.
Mbangira the father of deceased revealed that his son left home on Saturday 2nd January 2021 and they thought he had gone to visit his friend until his body was found floating in Bushenyi water pond.
However some close friends of the Deceased told that Ndemire had promised to kill himself if his parents reject his girl’s friend. “Ndemire brought his girl friend to his parents and they rejected her saying she was old yet their son was young and still studying,” say a close pal to the deceased.
Friends added that when the deceased left his parents’ home and went back to Ishaka, he told his pals that if his parents continue to reject his girlfriend, he will kill himself. “I highly believe that Ndamire’s parents could have rejected his girlfriend and this is the reason he committed suicide,” another medical student says.
