The police at Nsangi are holding a one Shaban Musisi for double murders and attempted suicide.
Police sources say the incidence that took place yesterday at Kasenge, Kikajjo, Nakilama in Kyengera Town Council in Wakiso District ended lives of Ruth Nakazi, 40, and Scovia Abed, 15.
According to police, at 4am, Musisi attempted to rape his house help Abed. However, she made an alarm that attracted, Nakazi, the suspect’s wife.
That out of anger, the suspect held a hammer and hit the wife several times until she died. He later turned to Abed whom he similarly hit to death.
After the incident, the suspect fled to the nearby bush, but he was later arrested by the community members.
It is suspected that he had taken poison before he was arrested which has affected his health.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman says the suspect is currently in a critical condition.
A bottle containing suspected poison has been recovered in his house and subsequently forwarded to Government Analytical Laboratory for analysis, Owoyesigyire said.
The hammer used in the murders has been recovered and taken as an exhibit.
Owoyesigyire says the two bodies have been conveyed to Kampala Capital City Authority mortuary at Mulago for postmortem.
The suspect is currently admitted at Mulago Hospital where he is undergoing treatment for suspected poisoning.
However, police have been deployed on the bedside to guard.
“Investigations into the whole matter are still on and updates will be availed soon,” Owoyesigyire said.
