Mbarara: One Arrested Over Police Boss’ Murder

Police in Mbarara city have one suspect in their custody in connection to the death of NO.44109 CPL Richard Agaba.

The suspect has been identified as Tumusiime James a boda boda rider and a resident of Ruharo, Mbarara city.

ASP Samson Kasasira the Rwizi Police mouthpiece confirmed the arrest of Tumusiime noting that he will help police in investigations since he is the one who rode the fallen Officer In charge of Ruharo Police station to the crime scene.

Kasasira further said that the suspect is currently detained at Mbarara central police station.

Agaba the OC Ruharo police station was on Wednesday in the wee hours shot dead by unknown thugs.

Kasasira says the deceased received a phone call from a boda boda rider Kiiza Muzamiru about armed robbers who had attacked Step Up bar in Kiyanja cell, Ruharo ward, Mbarara city North Division.

Kasasira further said that the deceased responded with a boda boda rider by the names of Tumusiime, on reaching the scene, they found when the thugs had run away thus followed them and met them at Palm world Ruharo.

“One of the thugs who had a gun shot at the OC who fell down instantly causing the rider to escape for fear of being shot. They immediately ran away with his gun No POL 565823996 which had unknown number of ammunitions,” he added.

The deceased was later rushed to Mbarara regional referral hospital by Bulu Kashaka the area Councilor though he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The PRO said that the case is still being investigated under vide Mbarara SD REF: 04/08/09/2021.
