Detectives attached to Entebbe police station are investigating circumstances under which a mobile money agent was murdered down by gunmen and millions of money stolen from her.
The murdered woman was identified as Nambi Bogiya 30 years of age and a resident of Nalugala in katabi town council.
Luke Owoyesigyire the deputy police spokesperson for Kampala metropolitan said that the mobile money agent was gunned down on 24/02/2021 at around 9:00 pm in the evening as she was going back to her home.
“The deceased was trailed by a group of unknown assailants from her work place in Nalugala before she was shot dead an unspecified amount of money taken from her,”says Luke Owoyesigyire.
Luke added that, police were informed about the murder and responded to the scene with a team of investigators, K9 and flying squad operatives but unfortunately they found when the gunmen had already disappeared.
The police mouthpiece added that investigators found three cartridges of the fired bullets and went with them adding that they will be subjected for ballistic experts to establish the gun used to murder the woman.
Luke said that a case of murder by shooting and aggravated robbery has been opened up and investigations have begun to bring the assailants to book .
This comes after police chief ordered for intensifying on curfew operations saying that criminality has increased due to laxity of security officers who have turned to be bodyguards of people operating bars in towns and failing to put curfew regulations in usage.
Entebbe is known to be a black spot area for murdering women and with a high number of women murdered in a short period of time.
