Patrick Amuriat Oboi has been declared as the party Presidential flag bearer for Forum for Democratic Change party (FDC) for the forth coming 2021 general election.
This comes after party chairman Ambassador Wasswa Biriggwa who has been contesting against Amuriat for the party presidential flag, pulled out of the race and endorsed him as the party president.
Biriggwa says he pulled out of the race because of unity and he will be concentrating on reconciliation within and with other political parties.
“I am allowing Patrick Amuriat Oboi to carry on this. I have found him strong and he is going to give Museveni a run for his money,” He said.
Amuriat on the other hand declared that Biriggwa is capable of being the deputy president of Uganda. “And therefore when I become the president next year, he will be my deputy president and this is serious. It’s not a joke,” he said.
“When Ambassador joined FDC, I didn’t believe in him. Even when he contested for the position of chairman, I didn’t trust him because I thought he would lead FDC to Museveni. I even decampaigned him, but I was completely wrong. I have come to know him as an honest and reliable man who is the real leader of the party,” Amuriat added.
