Several senior police officers today go home after a long wait for President Yoweri Museveni to renew their contracts.
Asan Kasingye, Edward Ochom, Asuman Mugenyi, Andrew Sorowen and Erasmus Twahukirwa among others officers at the rank of AIGPs are being retired officially right now.
The IGP Martins Okoth Ochola is the main celebrant at function being held at the Police headquarters in Naguru.
Following the expiry of the contracts, the officers reapplied to a two year extension.
However, as of today, the President has not responded to their request, despite responding to other officers who contracts expired, reapplied and were granted extension.
Against the above background, the Police is officially sending home the veteran officers.
Kasingye in a tweet says that “Big day for us at Police headquarters.”
“I wish all retired Police Officers a happy & prosperous retirement. Thank you for your patriotism, hard work, and giving the best part of your lives to serve Ugandans. Thank youPoliceUg for a big send off. May God bless us all,” Kasingye said.
