Red Cross Boss Arrested For Obtaining Money In Job Scam

Police in Kanungu have in detention an employee of the Uganda Red Cross Society arrested on charges of obtaining money by false presence.
Rodgers Kumbuka, a resident of Kibimbiri parish, Kihihi Sub County was arrested from Kihihi town council on orders of the Deputy RDC Gad Ahimbisibwe Rugaju.
Rugaju says the suspect, who is currently detained at Kihihi Police Station, has been convincing and registering locals, promising to give them jobs in Red Cross, while charging them Ugx 500,000 each.
“He was giving the victims forged appointment letters, promising to get them jobs, but all he wanted was money. Whoever falls in such category should contact me because over 50 people had registered complaints against Kumbuka to my office by last week,” said Rugaju.
Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson confirmed the arrest of Kumbuka saying that police has commenced investigations.
