Two Health Workers Succumb to COVID19 as Uganda Registers Three New Deaths

Uganda has registered three (3) COVID19 deaths today, two (2) of whom are health workers from Lira Regional Referral Hospital and Mbarara University of Science and Technology. The third death is a 53 year old male resident of Kampala.

This brings the total number of COVID19 deaths to forty four (44).

Relatedly, the ministry of health Uganda has confirmed 109 new COVID-19 cases from 6,439 samples tested on 6th September, 2020.

Of the confirmed cases, 96 are alerts and contacts including 53 from Kampala, 11 from Luweero , 7 from Kitgum, 5 from Wakiso, 4 from Buvuma , 3 from Buikwe, 2 from Mbale, 2 from Lira, 2 from Gulu, 1 from Arua, 1 from Kole, 2 from Mbarara, 1 from Mukono, 1 from Oyam and 1 from Tororo.

The other cases include seven (7) health workers, 5 of whom are from Lira, 1 from Mbarara and 1 from Goli, four (4) truck drivers who arrived via Elegu, Malaba, Goli, and two (2) returnees from South Sudan and Tanzania.

The ministry further notes that four Kenyan truck who tested positive for COVID19 were not permitted entry in to the country.

To date, Uganda registers a cumulative total of 3,776 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 1,741 recoveries and forty four (44) COVID19 deaths.
