The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has set 30th November 2020 as deadline for registration of candidates and warned head teachers that there will be no room for late registration.
“UNEB informs head teachers of schools that the registration of candidates will end on November 2020. As earlier communicated there will be no room for late registration. Schools are therefore urged to ensure that they register all their candidates during this period.” Read part of a letter signed by UNEB’s executive secretary Dan Odongo.
Odongo also reminded the heads of schools to allow registration of pregnant candidates as a way of giving them opportunity to continue with their education.
He further called upon to managers of examination centers to be mindful and not subject parents to unfair charges by increasing registration fees as the COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected parents financially.
“The registration fees for candidates have not changed. Shs.34,000 for PLE, Shs.164,000 for UCE and Shs.186,000 for UACE candidates. Any additional fees levied should clearly be explained to parents and not referred to as UNEB registration fees.” He said.
Odongo also noted that government will continue paying registration fees for all candidates in the government aided programs and warned against the fraudulent practice of registering learners from private schools in government schools as UPE candidates.
