No One Is Above The Law!! Police Officer Arrested After Attacking Election Presiding Officer in Kampala

Must read

Tension erupted at Jinja Road Police Station in Kampala on Saturday, August 16, 2025, when ASP Kwizera Sam, a police officer attached to the Construction Department, caused chaos during the counting of National Resistance Movement (NRM) election results. The officer, accompanied by one Mugulizi Tony, reportedly attacked Auma Grace, the presiding officer at Ngobi Village, Kololo Parish, who was computing the results.

According to SP Opiyo Patrick, the Divisional Police Commander at Jinja Road, ASP Kwizera Sam began intimidating and threatening supporters and agents of rival candidates, claiming that they had cheated his wife, identified as Jordan. The situation quickly escalated as Kwizera became violent while armed with a pistol, assaulting fellow officers and damaging office property.

Despite the aggression, police officers on duty managed to intervene. They disarmed Kwizera before the situation got further out of control. He was promptly arrested and detained pending further investigations. Authorities say inquiries into the incident are ongoing.

The victims of the attack included Auma Grace, 27, from Acholi tribe, and D/CPL Okello Bajilo, 30, also of Acholi descent and a resident of the Jinja Road Police Barracks. Both were at the station performing their duties when the incident occurred.

This shocking episode highlights the risks of intimidation and violence even within official settings during election processes. Police have assured the public that the investigation will be thorough and that no one, regardless of position, will be above the law.
