The Executive Director of Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) Hon Nyombi Thembo has assured the Nation that there is no second Internet lock down as claims by a section of social media users.
His communication follows a screenshot circulating on social Media platforms claiming “Second Internet Lockdown”. “This information is fake and deliberately misleading,” Says a statement issued by UCC.
He added that those fabricating and pushing such content, misinformation is not activism but rather sabotage and it carries heavy Consequences. He further Urged the public to verify and rely on official channels.
UCC had earlier issued serious warning to media houses, and other social media users that circulating un verified information during elections will carry severe punishments that will include cancellation of license and prosecution in courts of law.
