On March 2nd, 2026, the Nsangi Police Division launched a major operation that resulted in the dismantling of a motorcycle theft network operating in the area. The operation, which targeted a garage in Kigwanya Cell, Nabbingo Parish, Kyengera Town Council, followed intelligence that linked a suspect to the robbery of a motorcycle in Arua District.
The primary suspect, Kabogoza Kefa, a 22-year-old mechanic from Kigwanya Cell, is accused of stealing a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle (registration number UFU 119N) from an unknown victim in Saziro Village, Arua District, on February 27th, 2026. Kabogoza reportedly transported the stolen bike to Nsangi, where he intended to alter its engine and registration details to conceal its true identity.
On March 1st, 2026, the suspect delivered the stolen motorcycle to a garage known as “Younger’s Garage” in Buwali Village, Nsangi, for modification. Acting on this information, police raided the garage and recovered several stolen items, including the red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, a blue Spiro motorcycle, a registration plate, and various motorcycle parts.
Three suspects were arrested in connection with the theft, including Kabogoza Kefa, the garage owner Bbagala Shafik (alias Younger), and Aryatuha Samson, a parking attendant where the stolen items were stored. The police are continuing their investigations to trace the rightful owners of the recovered motorcycles and identify further accomplices involved in the racket.
The operation is part of an ongoing effort by the Kampala Metropolitan Police to break up organised crime networks involved in motorcycle theft. The police urge the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to help combat such crimes.
