The Nsangi Police Division has launched a strong campaign to fight panga-wielding thuggery that has been troubling residents in recent weeks. In a coordinated operation carried out last night, police arrested 43 suspected thugs believed to be behind several violent incidents in the area. The operation marks a major step in restoring peace and safety to the community.
According to SSP Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, the division is implementing several strategies to deal with the rising threat. One of the key plans involves empowering village security committees to work closely with police in regular patrols and surveillance. This collaboration is expected to improve intelligence gathering and ensure quicker responses to criminal activities.
The police are also teaming up with local leaders to strengthen community policing programs. By encouraging residents to report suspicious behavior and work hand in hand with law enforcement, the police believe they can effectively stop crime before it happens. To make neighborhoods safer, lighting systems are being installed in dark spots that criminals have been using to hide and attack unsuspecting victims.
In addition, Nsangi Police have increased the number of officers and motorcycles dedicated to patrols and emergency response. These boosted operations will ensure a visible police presence, especially during nighttime, when most of the panga-related incidents occur. The goal is to make residents feel safer and confident that their security is being prioritized.
SSP Onyango emphasized that these efforts are aimed at restoring order, building public trust, and eliminating fear among community members. He urged residents to cooperate with security teams and remain vigilant. With the recent arrests and ongoing operations, Nsangi Police are sending a strong message that crime and lawlessness will not be tolerated.
