Ntumgamo Municipality Goes Back To Voting As NRM Tribunal Cancells Victory Of MP Yona Musinguzi

Must read

Hundreds of voters across Ntumgamo Municipality have started jubilating after receiving news that the NRM Tribunal has cancelled the victory of the incumbent Member of Parliament for Ntumgamo Municipality, Hon. Yona Musinguzi, and ordered for fresh elections, Spyreports has learnt.

According to a ruling seen by this news website, the Tribunal stated that, “The declaration of the duly elected flag bearer for Ntumgamo Municipality Member of Parliament has been set aside.” The ruling further directed that new elections be conducted in polling stations that did not vote. It also noted that the announcement of the duly elected NRM flag bearer for Ntumgamo Municipality would be made within 21 days.

Voters in Ntumgamo Municipality had long accused Hon. Yona of rigging elections, which prompted them to petition the President and NRM Chairperson, Mrs. Janet Kataha Museveni. One of the strong leaders in the Municipality explained, “After Yona had rigged and caused chaos during elections, we petitioned the President and First Lady and told them that if Yona’s victory was not cancelled, we would front any person from NUP.”

The leader added that even in the last elections, Hon. Yona had engaged in electoral malpractice and later caused chaos during the President’s visit to the area. Another elder and respected community leader welcomed the Tribunal’s decision, saying, “We are now happy that NRM has heard our cries and cancelled Yona’s victory. We shall go back to elections and we shall choose our leader.”
