The speaker of parliament Rt Hon Anita Annet Among has confirmed the swearing on of Kawempe North Member of parliament elect Council Elias Nalukoola Luyimbazi after receiving an official communication from the Electoral commission.
The speaker also confirmed receipt of the copy of gazetted results.
“I have received official communication from the @UgandaEC along with a copy of the gazetted results. I will proceed to swear in the Member of Parliament-elect for Kawempe North in my chambers tomorrow at 12:00 noon. This comes just hours after the news circulating that Faridah Nambi, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate in the Kawempe North by-election, has withdrawn her petition seeking a vote recount.
