The Prime Minister of Uganda Rt Hon Nabbanja Robinah accompanied by the Minister of Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, commissioned the new Hoima Regional Blood Bank located in Kasingo cell, Hoima city.
The event marked a significant milestone in enhancing blood collection, processing, and distribution in Bunyoro Subregion.
This facility will greatly boost healthcare delivery and save lives in the region.
The Premier also commissioned the blood banks of Arua and soroti concurrently.
The event was witnessed by Local government Minister Raphael Magyezi, Public service State Minister Mary Mugasa, the Executive Director of UBTS Dr. Dorothy Kyeyune Byabazaire, RDCS, MPs, LCV Chairpersons and a cross section of local leaders among others.
In a related development, the Prime Minister earlier in the day commissioned 398 health center IIIs spread across the country making positive strides in health indices.
The Representative function took place at Kikoma health center III in Kyankwanzi district today afternoon.
Nabbanja challenged health workers to prioritize preventive health care by sensitizing the people through outreaches and at the facilities.
According to the Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, Government is now left with a few sub counties without health center III’s and the coverage stands at 76%.
The 398 health center III’s across the country have cost the government of Uganda over 760bn shillings with support from the World Bank.
