Police boss arrested for failure to implement M7’s directives

The Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochala has ordered for the immediate arrest of Entebbe Divisional Police Commander (DPC) one Kawonawo after he was briefed that he failed to implement the President Museveni directives to curb down deadly Corona Virus.

Recently President Museveni ordered for closure of all bars and night clubs to avoid the spread of Corona Virus.
Sources told us that Kawonawo received some bribes from bar and club owners in Entebbe and other surrounding towns and allowed them to continue operating.

Close associates of Kawonawo told us that he would tell them when the operation would begin and would be alert.
Sources further say DPC would close operation before mid night to give more time for bars and night clubs to operate.

Sources say when information reached Police Chief Ochola, he ordered for another operation without the knowledge of Kawonawo.
“We conducted a serious operation in areas of Kitooro ,Entebbe town, Abayita babiri and even to air port and all bars were working normally as if the President never issued any directive,” says a police officer who was in operation.

He added that several bar owners and customers were arrested and upon interrogation, they revealed how they paid money to Kawonawo to allow them work from 10:30pm up to morning.

The officer said when they reported the matter to IGP , he ordered for his arrest.
Fred Enanga Police spokesperson confirmed Kawonawo’s arrest and said investigations were going on.

“We arrested Kawonawo for failure to implement President’s directives and we will charged any time,” said Enanga. He also warned all police officers who fail to Implement Presidential directives that will be arrested and charged.

Lt Col Del Akiiki the Deputy Spokesperson for UPDF also warned army officers to implement Presidential directives.
“Some UPDF officers normally go to bars and drink and I want to warn them that Presidential directives cut across all classes of people and they will also be arrested,” he said.
