Police have arrested two suspected criminals during a foot patrol along Nantenza Road in Kungu. The suspects, identified as Ziwa Raymond, also known as Dodo, and Lubega Stephen, are believed to be members of a group locally referred to as “pavers,” which has been linked to a series of violent robberies in the area. Notably, one of the suspects was already listed among Kungu’s wanted criminals. The arrests were made through a coordinated effort by officers from Najjera and Buwaate, showing the police’s commitment to keeping the streets safe.
In a separate operation, the Police, in collaboration with the UPDF, conducted a disruptive night operation on February 26, 2026, targeting areas in Mukono District including Namuyenje, Namayiba, and Nagojje. The operation, which ran from 9:00 PM to 3:20 AM, led to the arrest of seven suspects from crime-prone spots. These individuals were reportedly involved in activities such as smoking marijuana, attacking pedestrians, committing robberies, and using hammers and other tools for housebreaking. The suspects were found in possession of hammers and other suspected burglary tools.
All the arrested individuals are now detained and awaiting prosecution. Police officials emphasized that such operations will continue as part of their strategy to remove criminal elements from communities and enhance public safety. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and support law enforcement efforts in reporting suspicious activities.
