Police Kills Two Armed Thugs in a Foiled Kidnap, Robbery

Police officers attached to Tuba police station under Kira Road last night shot dead two armed robbers as they attempted to kidnap and rob a city businessman.

The businessman who had been kidnapped was identified as Nicholas Natif a resident of Matayo close, Kigwa 11 zone in Bukoto 11 Parish.

Luke Owoyesigire the deputy police spokesperson Kampala metropolitan confirmed the incident saying that other criminal gangs who were part of the kidnap and robbery are still on the run.

“Our officers at Tuba police station received a disturbance call about a robbery that took place at  Natif Nicholas’ home located along Matayo close kigowa 11 zone in Bukoto 11 Parish and our response team swiftly responded to the scene and first fired warning bullets but thugs fired back which prompted the officers to shoot direct killing two on spot and other took off,” says Luke Owoyesigire.

Luke also said that thugs had seriously assaulted and injured the security guard of the home with an intention to take his gun adding that when his boss arrived, thugs immediately intercepted him, bundled him into his own vehicle Reg Number UBD 239A Harrier and white in color with an aim of kidnapping him and stealing his car.

Owoyesigire added that in the process of exchanging bullets with the robbers, Mr. Natif Nicholas was injured on the leg and was taken to Nakasero hospital where he is currently receiving treatment and out of danger.

The bodies of the killed thugs haven’t been identified yet but were taken to city mortuary Mulago as investigations to hunt out for their accomplices on run are on going.

Police thanked the family of Natif Nicholas for their timely reporting of the incident to the nearest police station and urged all the community to always report in time whenever there is an incident.
