Police Raid Hotspots Over Drug Abuse and Phone Thefts In Kyengera, 32 Arrested

Police in Nsangi Division have arrested 32 suspects during a late-night operation targeting crime and drug abuse in Kyengera. The operation was conducted in the areas of Kyengera Central, Nabaziza, Masanda, and Kinawa following several complaints from residents about youths allegedly smoking suspected narcotic drugs and stealing phones and bags during rush hours.

According to police, the disruptive operation took place between 10:30 PM and 3:30 AM. Officers moved through identified hotspots with the aim of curbing criminal activities that have been causing fear and inconvenience among residents and commuters. The operation resulted in the arrest of thirty-two suspects.

All the suspects are currently detained at Kyengera Police Station. They are undergoing screening as investigations continue to establish their involvement in the reported crimes. Police say the exercise is part of ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and to deal firmly with individuals engaging in illegal activities.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, reaffirmed the police commitment to maintaining law and order in the area. He encouraged members of the public to continue sharing information that can help security agencies fight crime and keep communities safe.
