Police in Luwero District are actively investigating a shocking case of kidnap that happened on Thursday, 10th July 2025, in Mabanda Village, Piida Ward, Luwero Town Council.

According to a police report released by ASP S. Twiineamazima, the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson, the incident occurred around 12:53 PM, when four men traveling in a white Toyota Premio with registration number UAM 180R allegedly kidnapped two Pakistani nationals, Abaasi Ali and Rashid Ahmed.

Both victims are said to be employees of Lucky Sajid, another Pakistani national and an investor in Luwero. The kidnappers reportedly drove the victims towards Matuga in Wakiso District and began demanding a ransom of UGX 20 million from their boss and relative, Mr. Lucky Sajid.

Once the police were alerted, an elite team from the regional Flying Squad, working closely with the Territorial Police in Matuga, quickly responded. After a tense pursuit, officers rescued the victims and managed to arrest two of the suspects, while the other two managed to escape.

Police confirmed that relevant statements were recorded from witnesses, and the scene of the crime was documented by the Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO). The case is being treated as an alleged kidnap, and investigations are ongoing to track down the remaining suspects.

ASP Twiineamazima assured the public that security agencies are doing everything possible to bring all the criminals involved to justice. He encouraged the community to stay vigilant and report any suspicious behavior.

This incident has raised concerns among local residents and the business community, especially investors, about the safety of foreign workers and increasing crime targeting high-value individuals.
