In a vibrant show of culture, faith, and unity, thousands of Ugandans gathered to celebrate the coronation anniversary of Kabaka Ronald Mutebi II. This annual event, deeply rooted in the Buganda Kingdom’s traditions, continues to attract large crowds and national attention. This year’s celebration was held at Kibuli Mosque, located in Mosque Zone, Kibuli Parish, Makindye Division, in Kampala District.

The colorful function began promptly at 9:00 am and went on until 5:00 pm, drawing over 10,000 people from different walks of life. The event was marked by joyful celebrations, speeches, traditional songs, and prayers, all in honor of Kabaka Mutebi II’s reign and the strength of Buganda’s heritage. Attendees included religious leaders, government officials, local community members, and loyal subjects of the Buganda Kingdom.

Thanks to good organization and heavy security presence, the celebration went on peacefully, without any major disturbances. However, as is common with large public gatherings, not everyone came with good intentions. Security forces remained alert throughout the day, ensuring that the event remained safe for everyone.

During the celebrations, 57 individuals suspected of trying to cause disruptions were apprehended by police. These suspects, believed to be criminally minded, were charged with common nuisance and are currently being detained at Kabalagala Police Station. Their swift arrest helped maintain peace and allowed the function to continue without incident.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police, under the leadership of SSP Patrick Onyango, commended the public for their cooperation and emphasized that security will always be a top priority at such events. The day ended with smiles, songs, and a shared sense of pride, marking yet another successful coronation celebration for Kabaka Ronald Mutebi II.
