Residents of Nabbingo-Tegga Cell in Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District, woke up to a shocking scene on the morning of June 11, 2025. At around 7:10 am, smoke was seen rising from a maize garden. Concerned locals rushed to the scene, only to discover a horrifying sight the burnt body of a woman.
The deceased has been identified as Nakiwala Proscovia, aged 66. According to police, the body was severely burnt from the waist down, raising suspicion that the victim may have been murdered elsewhere and then brought to the garden, where her body was set on fire to cover up the crime.
Police from Nsangi Police Division quickly responded to the scene. Statements were recorded from local residents, and the body was taken to the city mortuary for postmortem as investigations continue. Authorities are now working to identify those responsible and understand the motive behind this brutal act.
“This is a serious case. We are doing all we can to find out what happened and who is behind this terrible crime,” said SSP Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, in a statement issued on June 11, 2025.
The community is now living in fear, and many residents are calling for increased security in the area. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigations.
