A tragic road accident has claimed the lives of three people and left six others injured along the Ntungamo-Mbarara Road. The deadly crash occurred today at around 3:30 PM at a place called Rucece and involved three vehicles—a Fuso Fighter truck (registration UBF 727S), a Toyota Wish (UBL 839Q), and a motorcycle (UFF 926Q).

According to the police, early investigations show that the Fuso Fighter truck and the motorcycle were both heading from Ntungamo toward Mbarara. While trying to overtake the motorcycle, the Fuso knocked into it. This caused the truck driver to lose control. The Fuso then overturned and veered into the opposite lane, where it crashed into an oncoming Toyota Wish.
The impact of the accident was so severe that three people who were inside the Fuso truck died on the spot. The driver of the Fuso, three passengers from the Toyota Wish, and both the rider and a passenger of the motorcycle were seriously injured. They were quickly rushed to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for urgent medical treatment. The bodies of the deceased were also taken to the hospital mortuary.

This crash has once again highlighted the dangers of reckless driving, especially overtaking without caution. Police are urging all road users to be more responsible. They remind drivers to follow speed limits, avoid risky overtakes, and always think of the safety of other people on the road.
“Road safety is everyone’s responsibility,” police emphasized in a statement. “Many accidents can be avoided if drivers make careful and thoughtful decisions while behind the wheel.”
