Kampala residents have been left shocked after a 24-year-old businesswoman and social media content creator was found dead in her apartment in Kyanja. The incident, which police describe as aggravated robbery and murder by strangulation, happened on the night of 3rd February 2026 in Kwaata Zone, Kyanja Ward, Kawempe Division.
The deceased has been identified as Namulinde Diana, who was living alone at the time of her death. Her body was discovered the following day, 4th February, after friends became concerned and went to check on her. They reportedly found her apartment door open, which raised alarm and led to the tragic discovery.
Police at Kira Road quickly began investigations into the case. On the same day the body was found, officers arrested a security guard attached to the premises. He was reportedly found with items suspected to have been stolen. Some of these items were later identified as property belonging to the deceased, strengthening suspicions of robbery connected to the killing.
A team of homicide detectives and Scene of Crime Officers visited the scene to document evidence. Several exhibits were recovered, and statements were taken from witnesses who may help in understanding what happened that night. Police say the case is being treated with seriousness as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death.
So far, three suspects have been identified, and two are already in custody to assist with investigations. Authorities have confirmed that the body was taken to KCCA Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination, which is expected to provide more details about the cause of death.
Police say investigations are ongoing and have assured the public that more information will be shared as inquiries continue. The incident has once again raised concerns about security and safety in residential areas of Kampala.
