Three lives were lost in a tragic shooting incident that occurred on the morning of 23rd February 2026 at Kiboga Prison. In the attack, Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Hope Catherine, who was serving as Deputy Officer in Charge, was fatally shot. Principal Officer I Akishuri Bright, the third in command at the prison, also lost his life. Sadly, Ms. Ayebare Sarah, the spouse of the Officer in Charge, was also killed during the incident.

The deaths of the three individuals have deeply affected their colleagues and loved ones. They were dedicated officers and a supportive family member whose lives ended suddenly and violently.
