There was drama in Munyonyo shortly after midnight when musician Douglas Mayanja, better known as Weasel, was reportedly knocked down by a car driven by his partner, Sandra Teta. The shocking incident happened outside Shan’s Bar, where the couple allegedly had a heated argument that quickly escalated into violence.
According to a statement from the Kampala Metropolitan Police, Sandra Teta is currently in police custody at Kabalagala Police Station. She is facing serious allegations of unlawful wounding after she allegedly used a motor vehicle, registration number UBH 148Y, to intentionally hit Weasel. The car involved in the incident has since been impounded by police for further investigation.
Witnesses say that the two were seen arguing loudly before the incident occurred. Moments later, chaos broke out when Weasel was hit by the vehicle and left badly injured. He was first rushed to Mukwaya Hospital for emergency treatment before being transferred to Nsambya Hospital, where he is currently admitted and receiving medical care.
Police say investigations are ongoing to fully understand what led to the incident and whether the act was deliberate. The public has been urged to remain calm as authorities continue to gather evidence and establish the facts.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, confirmed the arrest and promised that more details would be shared in due course.
