A total of 459 police officers have successfully completed the four-month Basic Counter-Terrorism Induction and Combat Riders Course, Intake 01/2025, at the Police Training School in Ollilim, Katakwi District.

The pass-out ceremony was presided over by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Abas Byakagaba, who congratulated the graduates and stressed the importance of their role in maintaining national security.

The course was designed to equip officers with critical skills and knowledge needed to effectively combat terrorism. It focused on enhancing tactical capabilities, teamwork, and the ability to respond swiftly and professionally to security threats. Officers underwent intensive training aimed at preparing them for the complex challenges they are likely to face in the line of duty.

In his address, IGP Byakagaba emphasized the importance of collaboration and teamwork in ensuring the safety of the nation. He reminded the officers that their duties go beyond protecting Uganda—they contribute to the stability of the entire region. “This is not a choice, but a responsibility we must all embrace,” he said, highlighting the need for unwavering commitment, passion, and dedication in their work.

The IGP also spoke about personal discipline as a key quality every officer must uphold. He encouraged the graduates to carry forward the values instilled during their training, including integrity, accountability, and professionalism, which are essential for effective law enforcement.

The ceremony was attended by several senior police officers, including AIGP Moses Kafeero, Director of Human Resource Development (HRD); AIGP Wasswa David Ssengendo, Director of Counter-Terrorism; and AIGP James Apora, Director of Logistics and Engineering. Their presence underscored the significance of the course and the commitment of Uganda Police Force leadership to equipping officers with the best skills to protect the nation.

With this new batch of highly trained officers, the Uganda Police Force strengthens its capability to prevent and respond to terrorism and other security threats. The graduates now leave the training school ready to serve on the frontline, applying their knowledge and skills to safeguard the country and its citizens.
