Student Shot Dead As Robbers Steal Millions from a Mobile Money Agent

A group of unidentified armed robbers shot dead a student and stole millions of money from a mobile money agent last night in Natete while on his way back home.

The killed student has been identified as Rafael Walugembe 23 years of age while the mobile money agent whose millions of money were stolen has been identified as Denis Mwesigye all residents of church zone in Natete.

Patrick Onyango the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson confirmed the incident and told us how police received information at around 10:30 PM in the night that gunshot were being exchanged in Natete and immediately police rushed at the scene but found one person lying in the pool of blood and a motor vehicle registration number UAY 480U parked near the scene of the shooting.

“We received information at around 10:30 Pm yesterday that gunshots were being fired around church zone and we rushed there but unfortunately found one person lying in the pool of blood and a SPACIO  black in color parked near the scene and all shattered,” said Patrick onyango.

Onyango added that a student was killed by a stray bullet as he was coming from his father’s house heading to sleep in his sister’s house who is admitted in the hospital.

“The student has been sleeping in his sister’s house for some days after she fell sick and got admitted in the hospital,” said Onyango.

Onyango also said that robbers who were moving in Toyota ipsum vehicle silver in color but with no number plats  waylaid Denis Mwesigye a mobile money agent together with his wife who was only identified as Nurse and put them on gunpoint and ordered to surrender whatever they had before they could be killed also.

Denis and his wife gave out their two bags to robbers which contained Samsung phones, wallets that contained millions of money and other documents that police is yet to establish and they were left to go free.

Onyango added that police officers recovered seven cartridges of bullets that were fired during the robbery. A case file  of aggravated robbery and murder has been opened at Natete police station vide SD 62/14/05/2019 and investigations to arrest the robbers and face justice  have commenced.
