Tension In CID As Director Magambo Announces Country wide Reshuffle

Must read

There is growing fear and tension within the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) after a surprising announcement by the Director, AIGP Tom Magambo. The senior officer revealed that a major reshuffle is going to take place across the country, and this has left many detectives and operatives worried about their future positions.

On Tuesday, while speaking to Spyreports during an interview held at Kikandwa, Magambo confirmed that a countrywide reshuffle is in the pipeline. He stated that the move is necessary to improve performance and ensure better service delivery by CID personnel.

“This reshuffle is aimed at bringing fresh energy into the system. We want to make sure that officers are not too comfortable in one place for too long. Rotation helps reduce corruption, improve discipline, and enhance professionalism,” said Magambo.

However, his statement has sent shockwaves through the ranks of the CID. Many officers are reportedly uneasy, as they do not know if they will be transferred to far-flung areas or replaced altogether. Some fear losing their current positions in towns where they have settled with their families. Others are afraid they may be posted to rural stations with difficult working conditions.

“I have been here for five years. My children go to school nearby and I have even bought land here. I don’t know what will happen to me after the reshuffle,” said one detective who preferred to remain anonymous.

Another officer expressed concern about the timing of the reshuffle. “We are already dealing with so many cases. Changing officers now might affect ongoing investigations. I just hope the transfers are well thought out,” he said.

Despite the anxiety, some officers welcomed the news, saying it is good for the growth of the force. “Sometimes people stay too long in one place and forget their responsibilities. A transfer can remind you of your duty as a law enforcement officer,” one senior officer commented.

Magambo, who took over the leadership of CID with a vision to clean up the department and improve its efficiency, has been making bold moves since his appointment. He has promised to fight corruption and bring back public trust in the CID.

According to sources, the reshuffle will affect officers from different regions including Kampala, Eastern, Northern, Western, and Central Uganda. While the exact list of officers to be moved has not yet been released, it is expected that changes will begin in the coming weeks.

As the CID waits for official communication, many detectives are already preparing themselves mentally for whatever comes next. Whether they welcome the reshuffle or not, one thing is certain change is coming.

The entire police force will be watching closely to see how the reshuffle is implemented and what impact it will have on crime-fighting efforts in the country. For now, the atmosphere at CID offices remains tense, as officers await their fate.
