Police in Nakaseke District are investigating a fatal road crash that claimed three lives and left several others injured along the Luwero–Butalangu Road. The accident happened on the morning of February 3, 2026, at around 8:00am in Kasana.
According to the police report, the crash involved a white Toyota Hiace taxi, registration number UA746CH, and a white Tata vehicle, registration number UBJ 081B. The Toyota Hiace was traveling from Ngoma towards Luwero through Kasana in Kiwoko Town Council, while the Tata vehicle was heading from Kiwoko towards Butalangu. The two vehicles collided head-on in a violent impact. The identities of both drivers had not yet been confirmed at the time of the report.
Three passengers lost their lives in the crash. The deceased were identified as Joy Kusigwire, a 22-year-old passenger in the Toyota Hiace and a resident of Kyabiguuru; Nuwenyine Nathan, also a passenger in the same vehicle and a resident of Kyabiguuru; and Kingogo Martin, aged 43, a passenger in the Tata vehicle. Their bodies were taken to Nakaseke Hospital for postmortem examination.
Several other people were injured in the accident. In the Toyota Hiace alone, there were nine men, two women, and two young girls whose details had not yet been recorded. All the injured victims were rushed to Kiwoko Hospital where they are receiving medical treatment.
Police officers from the Nakaseke Traffic Department visited the scene shortly after the crash. They examined and documented the scene as part of ongoing investigations to establish the exact cause of the accident. Authorities are also working to identify the drivers involved.
Police have urged motorists to be extra careful when using the Luwero–Butalangu Road. Drivers are advised to follow speed limits, avoid reckless driving, and stay alert to prevent more loss of life on the roads.
