Three people have been confirmed dead following a fatal road crash that occurred early Monday morning at the Impala Interchange along the Entebbe Expressway. The accident happened at around 6:30 a.m. on March 16, 2026, according to a statement released by the Uganda Police Force through its Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety.
Police said the crash involved a Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number UBG 734S. The vehicle was reportedly being driven by Ssenyonjo Bosco, a businessman and resident of Masaka. At the time of the accident, he was travelling with his family and heading towards the Entebbe side of the expressway.
Preliminary police reports indicate that the driver may have lost control of the vehicle due to speeding while driving on the highway. The vehicle reportedly first knocked the base of a streetlight pole before crashing into a road pillar. After the impact, the car overturned several times along the road.
As a result of the crash, three occupants of the vehicle, including the driver, died instantly at the scene. Two other passengers sustained severe injuries in the accident. The exact identities of the other victims had not yet been publicly released at the time of the report.
A team of traffic police officers quickly responded to the scene after the crash was reported. The officers rescued the injured victims and rushed them to Grade B Hospital, where they received first aid before being referred to another medical facility for further treatment.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased victims were transported to City Mortuary for postmortem examinations as part of ongoing investigations into the cause of the accident.
In a statement issued by Michael Kananura, the Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Directorate, authorities confirmed that investigations into the crash have already started. Police also used the incident to remind motorists to follow traffic rules and avoid speeding, especially on high-speed roads like the Entebbe Expressway, where loss of control can easily lead to fatal accidents.
Road safety authorities continue to urge drivers to remain cautious, maintain safe speeds, and ensure their vehicles are in good condition to prevent such tragic incidents on Uganda’s roads.
