Tpp News!! UCC Cracks Down on Illegal Radio Stations Across Uganda

Must read

The government has launched a nationwide campaign to shut down illegal and unauthorized radio broadcasting operations in Uganda. This decision comes after it was discovered that some individuals and organizations have been setting up radio services without securing the proper licenses required by law. Authorities say such activities not only break the law but also endanger public safety and interfere with essential communication services.

Officials from the communications sector have warned that compliance with broadcasting regulations is not optional. Any operator found running an unlicensed radio station will face immediate closure and possible legal consequences. The Uganda Communications Act clearly states that no one is allowed to operate broadcasting services without approval from the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC).

In a public statement, authorities emphasized the seriousness of the issue. Illegal broadcasting, they noted, can cause confusion during emergencies, spread harmful content, and even threaten national security. “We take this matter seriously,” the statement read. “Non-compliance with broadcasting laws will result in immediate shutdowns and legal repercussions.”

The government has called on all radio operators to review their status and ensure they meet the licensing requirements. By doing so, they not only avoid punishment but also contribute to maintaining safe and orderly airwaves in Uganda.

The public is also encouraged to support the enforcement drive by reporting suspicious or unauthorized broadcasting activities in their areas. “Let us work together to uphold the integrity of our airwaves and protect our national security,” authorities urged.

With this nationwide enforcement, Uganda sends a strong message: the airwaves belong to everyone, and their use must be guided by law, responsibility, and respect for national security.
