A tragic shooting incident in Mbuya, Kampala, has left three people dead, including the suspected gunman. The shooting took place on the morning of June 18, 2025, at around 9:00 AM at the offices of Ultimate Security Company in Bugolobi Parish, Nakawa Division.
The police have identified the victims as Noella Zella, an Assistant Human Resource Officer; Bwampata Salez, an Armory Officer; and the suspected shooter, Mwaawa Richard, a security guard with the same company.
According to police reports, Mwaawa Richard entered the company premises and suddenly opened fire. He first shot Noella Zella, then turned the weapon on Bwampata Salez. Police officers quickly responded to the scene after receiving reports of an active shooting. In the process of trying to stop the suspect, officers shot and fatally wounded him.
All three bodies have been taken to City Mortuary Mulago for postmortem examinations. The gun believed to have been used in the incident has been recovered and will undergo forensic testing as part of the ongoing investigation.
At this point, the motive for the shooting is still unknown. Police are working hard to understand what could have led to such a shocking act of violence at a workplace.
Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and allow the investigation to proceed. They promised to share more information as soon as it becomes available.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, said the police are fully committed to uncovering the truth behind this heartbreaking incident.
