A high-stakes legal battle is underway at the Supreme Court of Uganda, where Hon. Francis Zaake is contesting an appeal filed by the Attorney General on behalf of Speaker of Parliament Anita Among. The appeal aims to overturn a prior court decision that favored Zaake.
Human rights lawyer Eron Kiiza took to social media to confirm that Zaake’s legal team is fully assembled and ready. The team features some of Uganda’s most prominent legal figures, including Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, George Musisi, Isaac Ssemakadde, Male Mabirizi, Kato Tumusiime, and Julius Assekajjako.
“We are here to uphold the Constitution and safeguard the non-derogable right to a fair hearing and natural justice,” Kiiza stated, highlighting the team’s commitment to defending Zaake’s constitutional rights.
