The traffic police have confirmed that two people have died while 8 others sustained severe injuries in the road clash that occurred last night at Mazuba, Maganda Sub County along Iganga -Mbale highway in Namutumba District.
According to traffic police Spokesperson Micheal Kanaura, the accident involved three vehicles Tata lorry number UBQ 901s, Toyota Hiace number UBJ 358P and unknown vehicle.
Kananura says Investigations show that the driver of Toyota Hiace was driving at a terrible speed heading to Iganga and attempted to overtake a Tata lorry which was heading the same direction.

“The Driver of the Toyota Hiace avoided a head on collision with the vehicle, which was coming from Mbale, he swerved onto the side of the lorry causing the lorry front driver’s corner to shear off Toyota Hiace’s loof,” Says Kananura.
He added that the taxi rolled multiple times killing two and injured 8. He says the injured passengers were rushed to Iganga Hospital while the deceased were taken to Iganga Hospital mortuary.
He adds, the driver of the taxi escaped and is currently on the run as Investigations are ongoing. He urged drivers to avoid over speeding while on the highway and should be cautious while overtaking.
